Penny Gumbel

Senior Speech & Language Therapist

Get to know our team

Penny is a Senior Speech and Language Therapist. She is originally from Atlanta, GA in the United States. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Furman University and a Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the Medical University of South Carolina. She is a certified member of the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA).

Penny has over 200 hours of advanced training in the evaluation and treatment of pediatric feeding disorders including the Sequential-Oral-Sensory (SOS) Approach, CAN-EAT Approach, Beckman Oral Motor Therapy, NOMAS Scale, and MBSImP. Penny is a Certified Lactation Counselor through the Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Program. She has worked in hospitals, schools and clinics with children who have difficulties eating. Penny has presented at conferences throughout the United States on topics including feeding skills, speech & language development, and providing support to families.

At The Energy Source Penny has created a curriculum for small group feeding therapy, The Snack Pack. These sessions focus on mealtime routines, simple food preparation, and exploring new foods in a way that is fun for kids.

When not at work Penny enjoys reading books, cuddling with her two pups, and traveling the world. She has traveled to over 30 countries and has a goal to visit every continent!
