Developmental, Clinical  and Educational Psychology involves the study, assessment and treatment of a wide range of interrelated biological, developmental, psychological academic and social problems experienced by children and adolescents.

 

These include but are not limited to the following:

  • Emotional and developmental problems

  • Significant mental disorders

  • Cognitive deficits

  • Stress and coping related to developmental change

Essential skills and procedures include:

  • Assessment & Diagnosis (e.g., psychological, intellectual, cognitive, behavioural testing and evaluation).

  • Intervention (e.g., one-to-one therapy, group therapy and behaviour management).

  • Development of prevention programmes (e.g., bullying, obesity).

  • Consultation with other professionals working with children.
