When you come in for your first appointment with us, it will be an initial consultation with one of our therapists. The session, which will take about an hour, is a valuable opportunity for you to openly discuss your child’s progress, challenges, and your goals for them in the future. This will help our therapist to learn more about your child, advise you on how they can help, and recommend the next course of action that you can take. We’re here to support you in making the right decision for your child and your family. Do let us know if you’d like to book an initial appointment.
We see newborn babies of just a few days old up to 18 years old. For our EIP programme, we accept children from 2-10 years old.
Initial consultations,therapies and other services
Yes, you may proceed with therapy provided that there was an assessment (with a thorough/detailed report) carried out within the last 6 months, or if the therapist has confirmed that an assessment is not required during the Initial Consultation. Having a recent assessment report will assist our therapists in understanding your child and in creating an individualised programme for them before beginning therapy.
The initial consultation lasts for about 1 hour and provides a valuable opportunity for you to discuss your child’s progress, challenges, and your goals for them in the future openly and uninterupted. Depending on your concerns, we will advise you as to whether it is important to bring your child along for this session.
Our Clinical Psychologists work to resolve mental, emotional, behavioural and cognitive disorders. They delve deep into the human mind and find out what the root cause of the problem is. When working with children, they concentrate on learning and cognitive disorders. Our Developmental Psychologists focus on the growth and development of humans throughout the lifespan. They explore virtually every aspect of human development including physical, cognitive, intellectual, emotional and social growth. They focus on the question of nature vs. nurture. Which of our behaviors and developmental milestones are influenced by our genetic background? Which aspects are influenced by the environment and circumstances in which we were raised? They also provide developmental screenings, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) diagnosis, as well as mental health support for individuals and parenting skills for parents. Our Educational Psychologists work with parents, children and teachers to improve the educational, social and emotional outcomes for children and young people. They consider how early childhood development, life experiences, learning processes and teaching approaches affect outcomes. They work alongside others to develop interventions that improve these. Our team conduct a number of standardised assessment and diagnostic measures for children such as IQ assessments, individual achievement tests, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Specific Learning Disability (SLD), and Intellectual Disability (ID) diagnoses.
Feeding therapy, in simplest terms, helps children learn how to eat or how to eat better. There may be many reasons for feeding difficulties including sensory processing deficits, Autism Spectrum Disorder, or motor deficits. Feeding therapy often happens on a weekly basis and is usually 30-60 minutes long. Most often, this time is spent teaching your child how to eat new foods (if they have a very limited diet) or how to eat (if they don’t know how to chew or manage food in their mouth). Depending on the child’s underlying challenges, you may see your child participating in sensory integration activities or completing exercises to strengthen the muscles they need for eating. Exercises will likely be things like blowing bubbles, making silly faces, or using whistles. Feeding Therapy is a ‘specialty within a specialty’ so please ensure the therapist is qualified to provide this service!
Music Therapy uses music as a medium and a means to help the clients improve or cope with the areas that they find challenging. There could be instrument playing (a variety of instruments included), singing, movement to music, intentional listening to music, composing songs etc. Learning to play a musical instrument would be the secondary benefit of participating in music therapy. The main goal in music therapy is to address the areas in which the client is struggling with, such as receptive and expressive communication, gross and fine motor, cognitive abilities, social emotional development, as well as mental health and wellbeing.

No reports are given for an initial consultation, as it is a session held to obtain your child’s history, gather information, set goals, as well as identify which interventions are suitable for your child.
Early Intervention Programme (EIP)
Our EIP, also known as the ‘First Connections Programme (FCP),’ caters to children aged 2-10 years old. Inspired by Waldorf and Reggio Emilio approaches, FCP takes a child-centred approach, having teachers as guides while building a child’s life skills and independence. The programme aims to ensure that children have the tools they need and the space to explore, express, and create new ideas in their present and future selves. Our blended-curriculum incorporates both Montessori and Thematic Integrated Curriculums whilst upholding the academic standards of the British Curriculum. We have a teacher:student ratio of 3:7. We offer all children a trial week for our EIP. During this week, our team will assess your child’s development, attention span, regulation, and sensory processing abilities etc. to ensure that our EIP is the right learning pathway.
We do not require an assessment before EIP enrolment. However, we provide a trial week before enroling your child to ensure that it is the right programme for them.
Our assessment reports are extremely detailed and are written to an international standard. A number of hours are required to analyse and tabulate findings, write the report and to provide suggestions, recommendations and strategies. If more than one therapist/specialist is collaborating on the report, extra time is required for communication and liason between professionals too!
We require up to 15 working days to complete a report before sending it to parents. Our reports are comprehensive and require a number of hours to tabulate and analyse the findings, and write. If assessments were multidisciplinary and the reports need to be combined with other disciplines, therapists need extra time to communicate with one another to pull together their findings in the report.
Discharge and Summary Reports are not a standard practice and are typically chargeable due to the number of hours taken to produce them. Working with over 200 families per week, it is just not feasible to manage this either. We do our best to communicate therapy goals and session feedback with parents directly or through an application, but unfortunately, there are only so many hours in a day!
Contact and Communication
The Energy Source uses the ClassDojo app as a platform for our interventionists, therapists and learning support teachers to update parents about their child’s progress. It also enables parents to directly communicate with their child’s teachers and therapists. If our team has not spoken to you about ClassDojo, please feel free to let us know and we’ll assist you on the set up.
If you are a new client, you may share your concerns and book an Initial Consultation with one of our paediatric specialists to assist you further. For existing clients, please do share your concerns on the ClassDojo app, as you may communicate directly with our Interventionists, Therapists and Learning Support Teachers. They will be available only during their individual working hours from Monday to Saturday at 9am – 6pm. We will not be able to reply to any messages that require specialist feedback, which come through the Centre’s Admin WhatsApp, as it is only for bookings and customer support.
